Qualifiers continue for the PPC Poker Tour

Just one week is left of September and as a new month approaches, those who plan on participating in the PPC Aruba Championship should know that the deadline is just around the corner. The buy-in for the tournament consists of $2200 and the prize pool for the main event stands at a massive $200,000, so the return on investment should be great. Not many can afford to pay the buy-in out-of-pocket, but the good news is that qualifiers continue for the aforementioned event. Unibet Poker is the best choice for those who plan on booking a seat for this highly competitive tournament without leaving their homes. The satellites cost just a fraction of the buy-in and there are plenty of chances if you don't succeed at first. The winners can expect to sit down at the tables and play against some of the best poker professionals, with the Radisson Aruba Resort being a gracious host for this tournament. At the time of writing, more than 60 players are already qualified for the event and even more are expected to attend. Land-based casinos run satellites of their own and a handful of players have already booked a seat for the PPC Poker Tour by prevailing in these smaller tournaments. John Ott is one of the lucky winners, as he outshined the competitors in the PPC Tampa Downs Fall Classic, with this triumph also marking his second victory in the PPC circle. More players will be sent to Aruba this year and there are good reasons to expect that the upcoming tournament will set another record. The Season 2 PPC Player of the Year race will also come to an end once the PPC Aruba Championship crowns its winner, which explains why the interest for this event is so high. Right now, Parry Shaw is leading the tables, with a narrow advantage over John Ott, but anything can happen by the end of the year. Check out the current standings below: 1 Parry Shaw 3,2002 John Ott 3,0003 Daniel Lobato 2,9004 Nicholas Mann 2,5005 Ralph Marzan 2,4006 Tim Shortell 2,3507 Alex Outhred 2,2508 Anthony Brammer 2,0509 Dawn Luckhurst 1,95010 William Fitzgerald 1,900

Olivier Busquet wins EPT Barcelona €50,000 Super High Roller

The expectations couldn't possibly be higher for the European Poker Tour and the Barcelona stop was by far the most anticipated event. This was the 100th stop for the prestigious European competition and the fact that it all began with the €50,000 Super High Roller meant a great deal. Regular poker players had no option but to sit back and watch some of the best poker pros in the world compete among themselves, in a dazzling display of skill. There are plenty of side events to participate and qualifiers still run live at Unibet Poker for the main event, so even those who don't have a lot of money could find themselves playing at the live tables in Barcelona. For the time being, Olivier Busquet is the one celebrating, because he became the first player to win a tournament in Barcelona this season, after outshining a total of 77 players. This means that a new record has been set, because last year only 64 players participated and as a result the prize pool grew significantly. The winner was guaranteed an amount of more than €1 million, but players were given the option of reaching an agreement at any time during the final table. This is something that usually happens in major tournaments, because when the stakes are as high as they get, even poker professionals prefer not to let luck decide the outcome. Plenty of pros participated, but only the nine who made the final table finished in the money, with Dan Shak being one of the lucky few. He survived with his dwindling stack long enough to claim a consolation prize of €130,000, with Morten Klein being the next to be sent to the rail. It took a while for the field to be reduced to just three players, but when three handed play began, it was obvious that Olivier Busquet and Daniel Colman were the ones to compete for the trophy. Immediately after Vladimir Troyanovskiy was eliminated in the third place, the two remaining players decided to split the money according to their stacks. Olivier Busquet was ahead and won more, but just as important is the fact that he was also the last man standing after the final hand was dealt. Check out the final table results below: 1 Olivier Busquet €896,4342 Daniel Colman €843,0663 Vladimir Troyanovskiy €473,2004 Scott Seiver €364,2005 Sam Trickett €288,4006 Sven Reichardt €225,5007 Morten Klein €177,5008 Dan Shak €138,600

Matt Culberson wins first prize in Heartland Poker Tour

A new tournament in the Heartland Poker Tour concluded this week and this time it was the Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles in St. Charles, Missouri that acted as a gracious host. The land-based casino has attracted a great deal of poker fans, including some that usually participate exclusively in online tournaments. Unibet Poker members found it worthwhile to spend some time away from the virtual tables and sit down at real ones. They bring a wealth of experience from playing over the Internet and it is not surprising that some of them made it to the final table. Among those who brought a healthy stack to this late stage of the competition was Matt Culberson from St. Louis. 393 players pay the buy-in of $1650 for the main event, but only nine of them were still alive when the final table began. Matt was trailing chip leader Matt Cannella by plenty of chips, but he closed the gap separating him by the time the heads-up began. No deal was made and the winner took home almost $130,000, while the runners-up had to settle for less than $80,000. These are the final table results at the Heartland Poker Tour event: 1 Matt Culberson Lake St. Louis, MO $129,1472 Michael Ross Chicago, IL $78,3503 Jeffrey Brin Olathe, KS $52,4664 Ron Amos Quincy, IL $36,5925 Matt Cannella O'Fallon, IL $27,4446 Reginald Roberts Springfield, MO $21,5257 Joshua Turner St. Louis, MO $18,1888 Carl Masters Clarksville, TN $15,0679 Matthew Mueller Columbia, IL $12,915 There were dozens of tournaments scheduled throughout the year by the HPT and while most of them concluded some time ago, the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower is scheduled for November in Las Vegas. Edison Nguyen wins the 2014 ANZPT Melbourne

A couple of tournaments have crowned the winners in North America and the hottest poker action unfolds in Europa, but things do happen in the Far East. Over the internet tournaments and cash games run unabated at Unibet Poker, so those who don't have the time and money to play in live events won't get bored this Autumn. The Australia New Zealand Poker Tour came to an end yesterday and the 34 remaining players sat down at the tables in an attempt of surviving the bubble stage. The top prize exceeded expectations and sits at AU$253,000, making it a tempting proposition for the survivors and providing the incentive to make the final table. Michael Chrisanthopoulos was the first one to be sent to the rail and for his performance of finishing in the 34th place, he claimed AU$4600. One by one, players were eliminated and as the final table drew closer, action subsided and the survivors shifted into a more passive gear. Chip leaders changed at a fast pace and Edison Nguyen was only for a brief time at the top of the leaderboard, but always within striking distance of the leader. It was pretty obvious that he will make the final table and by the time 13 players were left, he had one of the deepest stacks. The official final table would only feature nine players, which meant that Michael Caruana had to be eliminated for this late stage to begin. All the players left were guaranteed a five digit amount, but making the heads-up would make players considerably richer. That's why it took so long for three handed play to come to a conclusion, as Dennis Huntly was unwilling to take any chances. Eventually, he had no choice but to go all in and was eliminated, with his chips going to Nguyen and this gave him a narrow advantage over Corey Kempson. As soon as the heads-up began, the two players started to discuss the terms of a deal and the agreement was quickly reached, with the money being split. The winner would claim $7500 more, which was hardly a significant amount and that prompted players to shift to a rather reckless style of poker. The organizers were concerned that the game was not taken seriously enough by the two players and urged them to rethink the deal. What happened next was rather surprising, as the two players went all in without looking at their cards and luck was on Edison Nguyen's side. He won the first prize of $217,500, while the runner up took home $195,500, as can be seen below: 1 Edison Nguyen $217,5002 Corey Kempson $195,5003 Dennis Huntly $87,8004 Luke Spano $69,7005 Wayde Rickhuss $54,2006 Vincent Chua $43,8007 Dylan Honeyman $33,5008 Gabriel Messo $25,8009 Cameron Bryce $18,550

Daniel Colman wins his first WPT Alpha 8 event

The World Poker Tour is a prestigious series that rivals the biggest tournaments in the world and routinely attracts poker professionals. As always, the highrollers event are the ones that spent most of the time in the spotlights and this is where the best players in the world are to be found. The WPT Alpha 8 event recently concluded and with a buy-in of almost $100,000, it came as no surprise that just 17 players participated. Among those who sat down at the tables was Daniel Colman, a poker professional who began his activity over the Internet. This is where most of today's pros have started and many regular players are patiently waiting to make the transition from one level to the other. Unibet Poker is one of the online poker rooms where players get to choose between a nice variety of stakes, with those who prefer to compete at nosebleed limits having tables dedicated to them.Occasionally, the poker room runs qualifiers for live events, but this doesn't include highroller tournaments, so those who participated in the WPT Alpha 8 event had to pay the buy-in out-of-pocket. Colman emerged victorious and claimed a prize of £600,000 which means that he enjoyed the return on investment of 10 times the buy-in. The runner-up was Max Altergott who had to settle for £350,000, with two more players finishing in the money for a combined £400,000. This is not the first time that Daniel Colman wins a highrollers tournament, and it isn't the biggest prize that he collects for such a performance. He also prevailed in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open, the European Poker Tour (EPT) Monte Carlo Grand Final Super High Roller and won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) $1 million Big One For One Drop event. What makes his performance impressive is that he accomplished all this in one year and he is entitled to expect even better things to come his way in 2015 and beyond. With just seven players participating in this highroller tournament, it didn't take long for the final table to be decided and Isaac Haxton was the first to make the money. Talal Shakerchi was the executioner but he lost most of his chips to the eventual winner, who made short work of Max Altergott during the heads-up stage. Check out the official WPT Alpha8 London Results 1 Daniel Colman £600,000 ($959,622)2 Max Altergott £350,000 ($559,780)3 Talal Shakerchi £224,000 ($358,259)4 Isaac Haxton £160,000 ($255,899)
